Customer Reviews
kills the purpose if Itunes
I loved the music, and I loved the movie. But I loved itunes because using it allowed you to buy the one song that you wanted without having to go to a record store and buy the whole Album. When they make every song "Album Only" I feel like I would much rather go out and buy the actual album so I can at least hold it then be forced to buy it here.
Classic
Great soundtrack overall. Some of the pieces were brilliantly disjunct which fits perfectly with the movie. It has a classic but eerie feel to it which I think makes it noteworthy.
Forebode and Forlorn
Max Richter's On The Nature Of Daylight and the pairing of Dinah Washington's This Bitter Earth is outstanding. It has that sorrowful touch that makes a good underlying match for film-noir. Christian Zeal and Activity is an avant-garde recording of a beautiful symphony piece with the looped tape recording of a preacher in a zealous tone telling of 'the withered hand and ...SatanJesus is right here, right NOW.." repeatedly and looped over and over. It's quite calming and off putting at the same time. Like the movie, this soundtrack is dark, eerie, and combines the voices of the past (Dinah, Johnny Ray, Kay), the modern spooky loop recordings( Brian Eno and The Christian Zeal recording) with the everlasting string compositions that build a foreboding, time and time again.
