iTunes Review

Over the last several years R&B has pandered to a younger and younger audience, to the point where it is often hard to tell where the R&B market ends and the teen market begins. Joe is one of the few contemporary soul singers to refuse to follow this trend. Signature upholds the tradition of grown-up R&B epitomized by Teddy Pendergrass, Luther Vandross and Freddie Jackson, but this isn’t by any means a retro album. “Majic” and “Sex Girl” have a low-key thump that fans of hip-hop can easily relate to. Signature is the rare R&B album that values musicianship and songwriting over big hooks and flashy beats. It’s refreshing to hear live horns on “Friends Don’t Let Friends,” “Love’s Greatest Episode” and “Miss My Baby,” and the hypnotic shuffle of Marvin Gaye's “Come Get to This” echoes Gaye in his prime. Of course a singer with as tasteful and understated a style as Joe is bound to excel at slow jams. Check out “Very Special Friend,” “Wanna Be Your Lover,” and “Metaphor” for low-light bedroom atmosphere.

Thank you JOE!!!!!

All I can say is this album is outstanding. This is the Joe I like to hear. Don't even waste your time previewing songs. Just buy the whole album ;) Now if only R. Kelly would get his head back in the game and make albums like he USE to before his midlife crisis.....

Joe has renewed my interest in R&B!

(Shocking! I am first!) Way to go, Joe! Thanks to the relentless promotion by a friend :D, I decided to give R&B another try, and Joe's CD has won me over! It has a little bit of everything: love, sensuality, and good vibes all tied together with his magnificent vocal skills! So far, I'd say my favourite song would be "Wanna be Your Lover," though it's a little early to tell. Good for listening to with a significant other, as most R&B is, and just as good for relaxing and decompressing. In my opinion, Joe has really developed as an artist over the years and as I said, he has boosted my interest in the genre!

It's About Time...

I am pleased, as a true Joe fan, that he has left Jive and taken control of his own creativity. I must admit his last album was NOT the Joe that I am used to seeing in the past. He is extremely underrated as a true R&B artist amongst the public as well as his peers(much to the likes of Donell Jones etc.) His material is priceless. He possesses true talent. He isn't like many of these "new babies" that come out with whack song's and material just to say they made it! He has proven himself with 90% of his albums. He's one of the few artists who maintains excellent beats and production which fits his style perfectly. I must say I am also impressed with the fact that he recorded this album using a live band. Keep up the consistentcy Bruh! Even if the critics and award shows don't give you the recognition you deserve, your fans will. Keep knockin, they gotta let you in sometime...
