God Bless Bloc Party!

So. You know Silent Alarm back to front? This is for you, no wait, us. Taking 13 beloved tracks and remixing them was a horrifying thought in theory...however the result is something made in every fan's dreams. Just when you thought Silent Alarm was getting a bit...dull (though it never could be), here comes original and creative interpretations and improvements to the record. Think of your favorite Bloc Party song and sample it from this album, if you love it as much as you think, I promise you may love this version more. Easily the highlight of this album are the contributions from Death From Above 1979, Mogwai, and M83. Simply remarkable. Bloc Party is a force that can't be stopped.

takes some getting used to...

i consider myself to be an average fan of Bloc Party and an avid lover of Remixes, so needless to say i was pretty excited about this album. however, after buying this album i was somewhat disappointed -- it wasn't what i thought it was going to be. so Silent Alarm Remixed remained in my library, unplayed for a couple of months. then, just the other day i played the album again and liked it about 10 fold better than i did when i first purchased it. some of the songs still aren't to my liking, but others have really grown on me. i recommend buying this if you can listen to it with an open mind... and again, while it's not a GREAT album, it is a solid listen!

Deserves more credit.

This album is a great extension of Silent Alarm. Some of the songs on here are even better than the originals, in my opinion (Luno, Compliments). If it's too much to ask to just get the whole thing, the songs I would choose if I could only have a few would be... 1. Blue Light (Engineers' Anti-Gravity Mix) 2. The Pioneers (M83 Remix) 3. So Here We Are (Four Tet Remix) 4. Price of Gasoline (Automato Remix) This is assuming you already have Banquet (Phones Disco Edit) from somewhere else. All I can say is, go easy, Blocheads. This album was never intended to go up against Silent Alarm, just supposed to add to it, and it does so in a constructive way.

Equally inspired by Sonic Youth, Joy Division, Gang of Four, and the Cure, East London art punkers Bloc Party mix angular sonics with pop structures. Consisting of singer/guitarist Kele Okereke, guitarist Russell Lissack, bassist/singer Gordon Moakes, and drummer Matt Tong, the band was formerly known as Angel Range and Union before settling on Bloc Party.
