Check the Gui Boratto Mix
Adam Freeland's the man, but I'm not too crazy about the remixes of "Silverlake Pills" on this single--with the very, very notable exception of the Gui Boratto remix. Gui is doing some great stuff right now, and he's one to keep an eye on. I'd skip everything else, unless you really like the original version.
Remix or rewrite
Sometimes you can forget you're not the star, the song is. Going by the previews, the Boratto originates its flowing textures on top of nothing more than a memory of the original. And the new song is naturally not so hesitant as the dub. The Last Atlant also completely buries the original but comes closer to bombast than intrigue, for me. Less overwhelming is the Anil Chawla, et al, version, which incorporates the textures into its own ornaments with samples from the original that break up its repetition. Also catchy was Smash TV's light rhythm enhancement with its tonal energy and wild, intricate syncopation. I ended up with 2, 4, & 5.
Gui Boratto!!!
That's all I have to say................. This is one of the top remixes of the year!
