wow!
sitting for hours in the four star coffee bar yesterday in front of my laptop, i practically ran to the counter to ask about the music they were playing after hearing just one or two songs from this record; by the time the last song had played, i had already purchased and downloaded the full record from itunes using the coffee shop's free wi-fi... what a bonus that it turned out to be a local band in the dallas/fort worth area... happy, sad, melancholy, authentic, sentimental, innocent, sophisticated, spiritual, contemplative, genuine, joyous, meaningful but not pretentious or preachy, instruments masterfully played but from the position that understands that less can sometimes be more.... i sure hope for more from this outstanding band...
if you like this, wait till you hear the new stuff!!!!
I recently heard a copy of TSS's new stuff and it's just as fresh as this and more organic at the same time. This album is great for anyone into emotional, transparent, and cinematic music...each one of these tracks really takes you somewhere...beautiful music.
Simply Great Music!!!
I just cannot believe this band isn't more well known. I love the harmonies, the bells, the theremin and all the other little details this band puts together so well. Great pop melodies over a unique lo-fi sound that compliments the songs in a nice understated way. I cannot help but think that the Beach Boy's album Pet Sounds must have been a huge influence on The Southern Sea. I love it.
