Sing For Your Meat
What a sorry sad collection of cover tunes. The majority of these bands should be so ashamed of what they've done: a complete desecration of some of the greatest songs ever made. Listening to these tracks made me immediately put on Bee Thousand to remind myself of just how amazing GBV was. My only hope is that some newbie who hears these songs takes the time to research the real GBV recorded tracks.
Just get the originals
I really wanted to like this album, but the best songs are the ones that stay the most faithful to the originals, which made me wonder why I wouldn't just listen to the originals in the first place. I think the only track that was actually re-interpreted was La Sera's "Watch Me Jumpstart", which I found interesting enough for one listen, but don't need for my collection. Too bad, this could have been a really fun album.
