a great singer/songwriter!
This is her earlier album, recently re-released. Though more "girl with her guitar" than The Shakes, the lyrics are still just as impressive, as is her amazing voice. It's amazing what this girl can create! I especially reccommend the songs Levers and Gears, Somewhere in Between, and I'm All Talk.
The Shakes
I was a little bit wary about this CD, but there was no need; Sitting in Chairs is just as good as The Shakes
Lauren O'Freaking-Amazing-Music-Maker
I've never heard an entirely acoustic album with so much depth before. All of the songs are intelligent and thought provoking, and they also come with some spot on guitar playing and a beautiful, quirky, unique voice.
I have to say my favorite is Levers and Gears. I don't know what it is about that song, but it makes time slow down for me. Just Be also has a similar affect, but it's a bit happier... More innocent, rather.
I think the worst part of the album is that there is too much reverb... But it's low-budget acoustic, so I don't think that could have been helped, really. It probably makes the songs sound better, but she does sound like she's singing a cave sometimes. Regardless, this is an album that everyone should have. I feel like this is music for any occasion, and it's, overall, just a really good album. This is why I love you Lauren. Or at least, one of the many reasons... But probably the main one ;)
