Luciar is AWSOME!
This is a very good CD. It was great seeing Luciar perform at my college sometime ago. had to buby this CD right after the show.
It just keeps getting better
I've been a fan of Luciar since her first album, and have watched in facination as her songs grow in richness and depth. While her lyrics have always held that amazing quality of echoing listeners' own life experiences, making them touch you in a very personal manner; the aptly named "Skin" removes the bells and whistles and with only a bass, drums and her own voice to embellish, presents the songs simply and with beautiful clarity. The songs tell candid stories of love, loss, doubt and sex utilizing clever poetry and often delicious humor, all tied together with an seemingly innocent theme that only adds to the poignancy. Her classical piano training really shines through on "Skin", carrying you on a rollercoaster of styles from jazz, to rock to waltzes. Surface echoes of Tori quickly give way into something new and sharp, until you realize you are listening to something wonderful that can't be pigeon-holed as just another girl and her piano.
She has that je ne sais quoi
One time, one night, one song at the Rockwood was enough... loved her, still do and will definitly follow up on her! Beso Luciar!
