iTunes Review

Sky Blue Sky is Wilco's first studio album with guitar-whiz Nels Cline on board and instead of further pursuing the abstract experimentation that had given the band an unexpected edginess with 2002's Yankee Foxtrot Hotel and 2004's A Ghost Is Born, Wilco have opted to weave Cline into the group's sonic fabric much more tastefully with well-placed spotlights — the solos capping "Impossible Germany" and "Side With the Seeds" — that help the band come across as one smooth FM-radio vehicle. If anything, the addition of Autumn Defense's Pat Sansone seems even more relevant. Sansone's early-‘70s styled keyboards and handle on soothing, sugary harmonies are everywhere throughout, as "Hate It Here" and the mellotron-laced "Leave Me (Like You Found Me)" best accentuate. As for Tweedy? He sounds remarkably well adjusted, sporting his Grateful Dead-like mellow for the title track and "You Are My Face." As Neil Young has certainly taught us, sometimes the greatest artistic stretch has less to do with reaching for the next galaxy than moving a few rocks around to see what more you can unearth.

Absolutely Beautiful Album

Sky Blue Sky has been received with differing enthusiasm by music fans. Typically, those who have loved Wilco since the days they spun off from Uncle Tupelo find Sky Blue Sky much too soft and not nearly as edgy as Wilco's earlier works. Those who have never been exposed to Wilco, however, tend to enjoy the album (and Wilco) almost immediately, but struggle to expand their love for Sky Blue Sky to Wilco's earlier albums. At the end of the day, Sky Blue Sky stands alone as one of the best albums of all time, and although it is not nearly as edgy as Wilco's earlier albums, it is an extremely coherent, fun and oftentimes beautiful album worthy of inclusion in any music fan's album collection. Like other Wilco albums, it may take a few listens to truely appreciate this musical masterpiece, but rest assured, if given the chance this album will likely become a favorite for years to come.

WOW

This is my first Wilco album ever and I am impressed. This album brought artists like Bowie, the Beatles and Dylan to mind, so in my eyes they are doing a lot right. I especially love the track "Let's not get carried away". Great tune and I am looking forward to their new album, which is due out soon.

Best Album of 2007.....

I bought this album the day it came out, back in the Spring of 07. It blew me away. From start to finish, it rolls perfectly. Impossible Germany is a masterpiece. The bonus track is nice as well. The rest you'll have to find out for yourself. This is a great chapter for the Wilco crew. Also check out another bonus song "One True Vine", also released during the Sky Blue Sky sessions, but not on this album version. ENJOY!!

Wilco rose from the ashes of the seminal roots rock band Uncle Tupelo, which disbanded in 1994. Guitarist Jay Bennett rounded out the...
