A Great Buy For Any Metal Fan
Amorphis has done it again. As with many of their of their albums they have worked hard to change their sound a bit and give this album a distinct feeling hbeard in no other album. Silver bride, their most popular song at the second, has an amazing riff and solo, as well as some screaming. Song like the Sky Is Mine and Skyforger show how a metal band can be great without screaming (although metallica proved this over 20 years ago). Lastly, the songs Majestic Beast and Course of fate should be instant favorites for the screamo fan. I have to say, although it may now sink in at first, after a few listens to this album you will realize how great Amorphis truly is.
I'd give this 10 stars if they let me . . .
Stunning. Majestic. Godlike. Nothing you can say quite does justice to this album. Every song is a keeper. As soon as you're done playing it, you just want to play it again.
Good, not great...
After giving this album three thorough listens, I'm still unable to give it 5 stars. Its a solid album, and any Amorphis fan will enjoy it, but I don't feel like there are any truly standout tracks. Silent Waters had two or three tracks that really stuck out for me, while Skyforger seems more homogenous in what they present. Considering how quickly they were able to put this out after Silent Waters, its a great album, I just don't see it getting as much play in my library.
