Album Review
Skid Row get harder and heavier on their sophomore effort, matching Sebastian Bach's gritty, streetwise rants to lean, driving riffs that manage to back up all the attitudinal posturing. Largely missing are the bits of pop-metal fluff that filled out Skid Row; in their place are tales from the dark side about drugs, corruption, and the like, with Bach affecting a tough, threatening persona most of the time. The furious noise kicked up behind Bach is usually more threatening than his overwrought vocal delivery, but Slave to the Grind is powerful enough that it doesn't really matter. "Monkey Business," "Get the F**k Out," and the thrashy title track crush most anything on the debut, and power ballads like "Quicksand Jesus" and "Wasted Time" are far less generic than their Skid Row counterparts. Many observers were surprised when Slave to the Grind became the first heavy metal album to debut at number one on the Billboard charts, but it really was one of the best — and heaviest — examples of mainstream hard rock/heavy metal in the genre's MTV, Rovi

I've been slaved
Skid Row apeals to even the heaviest metalheads. They look kind of glammy, like they came from Poison, but rock so much. Maybe's it's the vocals, or maybe it's the guitar work, but htis is just a great album. New Skid Row is garbage now. Don't forget.
Skid Row at their best
While their debut album was a smash, full of radio- and MTV-friendly hits, Slave To The Grind sees SR really take it up a notch. The opening blast of Monkey Business/Slave to the Grind/The Threat is just amazing. Get The F**k Out is a killer track that is Skid Row at their hard-rockin' sleaziest. There aren't any super-mega commercial hits like Youth Gone Wild or 18 and Life, but there are 12 consecutive kick-a*s tunes that make up one of the most essential metal releases of the time.
Timeless Classic
Slave to the Grind is an awesome album. I beleive this album was not appreciated for the classic that it is, because of the timing of it's release in 1991. This album is a kick azz masterpeice but it still fell victim to the Grunge Rock revolution, that Nirvana had sparked. It's 2010 and this album just gets better with age. I haven't listened to Nirvana since 1995.
