Customer Reviews

The only stupid question is one never asked.

Unbelievable. How anyone who likes this band could not like this album is beyond me. The tongue in cheek paranoid rage of "Willie Nelson" will have you gritting your teeth while you reach for the nearest thing with a trigger as you smile with the understanding only a Clutch fan could know as the chorus finishes it's angst filled lines with a smile. This band (and album) grab you by the throat, punch you in the face, then buy you drinks until the two of you are drunk and looking for someone else to join the club of decadent pugilists with appreciation for the politics of fine art as well as the switchblade that defaces it. "Sea of Destruction" is particularly close to my heart because of my current location in the Middle East. Rising Son is also an unexpected punch in the groove that makes you grip the steering wheel tighter and mouth the words to those around you that couldn't possibly understand until their grease fittings were payed attention to by one of the greatest unsung bands of our time. Thank God they are still around and thank God they're still making music. I will regret the day this band hangs up their instruments. Heavy enough to make a Melvins fan stand at the position of attention and Clever enough to make Aristotle doubt his own ability to reason. Clutch never ceases to engage and drive the human mind and spirit in the simultaneous directions that only they are capable of. Scouts Out!!

Clutch can't be matched....

By far a must have for any Clutch fan! Its a wonder why non of these songs were released before. All of the songs contain the classic formula that has made Clutch what they are. If you need a Clutch fix this is the album for you! Fans, you know what I'm talking about.....

It Doesn't get any better than Clutch

Believe it or not, I don't wear tight jeans, V-necks, and death metal T-shirts. I'm not a little skater or an emo kid either. I wear Polo clothes and Top-Siders, but oddly enough I still love this band. I'm in high school and country is pretty much all I listen to, and Clutch is the exception. I own every single full CD and pretty much know BLast Tyrant by heart and am not even close to being sick of it. I love everything about Clutch's music. Their lyrics are great and really entertaining and the deep riffs are so crazy it gives me an adrenaline rush. This CD is amazing, and I'm glad iTunes has decided to put it on. It amazes me how many great songs this band can crank out in such short periods of time.

Clutch combined elements of funk, Led Zeppelin, and metal with vocals inspired by Faith No More. Formed in 1991 in Germantown, MD, the group included Neil Fallon (vocals), Tim Sult (guitar), Dan Maines (bass), and Jean-Paul Gaster (drums). They built a local following through constant gigging, and after just one 7" single (the classic Earache release "Passive Restraints") Clutch was signed by EastWest Records. Their debut LP, Transnational Speedway League, followed in 1993. A self-titled album appeared...
