Album Review

On Slow Love, his second album for Verve/Forecast, Gino Vannelli retains some of the jazz influences that marked Yonder Tree, his debut for the label. Nevertheless, the entire record is geared toward the adult contemporary audience — the one that carried him through the '70s and '80s. With that in mind, it's hard to believe that the album was released on Verve, since not only does it not sound like jazz, it barely fits into the fusion category. Even so, Slow Love is a solid, well-produced adult contemporary album, even if it is quite predictable. In the past, Vannelli tended to over-sing, but here he displays a welcome gentleness. He may not be subtle, but he's getting closer. He sounds better and more relaxed than he has in years and that alone makes Slow Love a relative success.

Slow Love

I have been a fan of Gino since the 70's and have never heard his voice more mature, mellow and sensual. As a jazz buff, I can understand the effect of Slow Love on the adult contemprary market but Slow Love sinks into my Smooth Jazz library easily and adds depth to it.

Very Nice

I may be only 15 but Gino had a good hit with this album. I love all of his music but slow love is one of my favorite albums. It's as deep as the rest of them. I like Gino's music because we all can relate to what he's saying. I"ve been a fan of Gino since I was about 7 before I understood the album to its full potential. Gino should be huge. Im looking forward to his next album.

Hater!

I have to say the reviewer of Gino's music on iTunes is quite the "hater". Perhaps that task should fall into someone else's hands or ears.
