iTunes Review

We the Kings are MySpace darlings with unabashed ambition for driving commercial emo-pop as far as it can go, so don’t expect innovative chartings of musical territories unexplored. Do expect contagiously catchy songs that are predictably enjoyable, as they contrast lovelorn sentiment with soaring feel-good melodies that endearingly radiate Florida sunshine. “She Takes Me High” opens with barbed “doo-doo-doos” in the chorus that are nearly impossible to get out of your head, while the skip-along rhythms of “Promise the Stars” and the dire urgency of “Rain Falls Down” recalls Jimmy Eat World. And while other tunes sound influenced by Newfound Glory and Blink-182 there are dazzling moments of originality, like the standout single “Heaven Can Wait” and the hilarious “In-N-Out (Animal Style),” a tribute to the West Coast’s most popular fast food joint (and its most-coveted secret menu item). “We’ll Be a Dream” is a melodramatic power ballad that features the sultry squeak of Disney starlet Demi Lovato.

Great Album Demi Lovato fans leave

Great songs here. All the Demi Lovato fans stop complaining about how you can't buy We'll be a Dream or "the Demi Lovato song". If you came to this album just to buy her song then just leave and buy HER album. I have nothing against her, infact i think shes a pretty talented singer. im just sick of seeing all the demi lovato fans give low ratings just because they cant buy her song. Most of them probably never heard of we the kings before and are little 10 year olds.
anyway on to a review of the album

Travis - Excellent vocals this album. Shows off his true skills. Unlike the first album where only skyway avenue, check yes, and all again for you showed his talent.

Hunter - Great guitar playing here. All songs show his talent to the greatest.

Dan - Plays drums like he was born doing it. Some of his best that he stands out are Spin, She Thakes Me High, and The Story of Your Life

Drew - Great at bass as well. Listen to the whole album for him.

She Takes Me High - 10/10 One of the best songs. deep lyrics(as always with we the kings) one of trav's best songs vocally.

Promise The Stars - 10/10 Again great song and one of the best deep lyrics and just a song with a meaning, not many of those now a days.

Heaven Can Wait - 10/10 still just as good as when it was released as a single. Such a message about being with the one.

Story of Your Life - 10/10 this album starts out with the best 4 songs. great song.

Rain Falls Down - 8/10 Still such a great song, just compared to the rest of the album not the greatest.

Summer Love - 9/10 Great song. going to sound even better in august.

In-N-Out (Animal Style) - 9/10 DOES NOT HAVE TO DO WITH WHAT YOU THINK IT DOES. great song about leaving home.

Spin - 10/10 probably Dan's best song. very impressed with this one.

Anna Maria (All We Needed) - 10/10 Probably some of the best lyrics. got to 10 because lyrics.

We'll Be a Dream - 9/10 pretty good demi isnt bad

What You Do to Me - 10/10 Very exciting and energetic

Heaven Can Wait and She Takes Me High (acoustics) - both 10/10 great travis sounds amazing

Some of the MUST HAVES
She Takes Me High
Heaven Can Wait (if you dont already have)
Promise the Stars
What You Do to Me

overall 10/10

Decent, but I won't buy this...

I didn't really care that Boys Like Girls went soft pop and had Taylor Swift on their album... a shame that they aren't as good though. Not a huge deal that Cobra Starship had Leighton Meester on their album, because you would expect that. But We The Kings with Demi Lovato? I'd expect that from the Jonas Brothers, not We The Kings. Officially change your name to We The Disney Kings. Greatly disappointed. What the heck happened to the pop/punk and emo scene? This is a disgrace.

Right On

This is pretty good material right here! I still like the self-titled album just a bit better, but this is still good!
BTW, WhyDoYouNeedKnow & Wudduya Slappin, whoever you are, this is a We the Kings CD, not a Demi Lovato CD. So that is quite selfish of you to bring down the rating on this album just cuz you can't get your precious Demi song. Not to mention if you were that strong of a Demi fan, you would just buy the CD. The plus side to that is that you get more awesome music with it! This is an awesome WE THE KINGS album!
(PS it says in the 'Tips' section - 'Praise music on its own terms, not at the expense of other artists...')

Biography

Formed: 2005 in Bradenton, FL

Genre: Alternative

Years Active: '00s

We the Kings are an unapologetically commercial emo-pop band from Bradenton, FL, a small town that also doubles as the home base for Tropicana orange juice. Friends since childhood (the band's name refers to the name of their junior-high mascot), the foursome — singer and guitarist Travis Clark, guitarist Hunter Thomsen, his bassist brother Drew Thomsen, and drummer Danny Duncan — formed the band while still attending high school. In 2007, under the guidance of manager Bret Disend, the...
