Haunting Voice
Laura has a very haunting voice that reminds me of a lazy rainy morning Saturday in April. While songs like Prevost show she can rock with a band behind her, I really like her voice with just the acoustic guitar backing her. Female folkies send some guys running in terror at just the thought of sitting through Lillith Fair or something, but Laura doesn't seem to go into the area of pretension or whininess that seem to permeate the songs on some weaker artists' albums. Her songs fit nicely on my IPOD with other great singer/songwriters like John Prine and Tom Waits even if their musical styles are a bit different.
