Combining their first two albums onto one CD, this is the best compilation of the group's Stax material, offering polished sweet soul with a gospel tinge.

I love how the Emotion's sued Mariah Carey over her song "Emotions" Saying it sounded like "Best of my love" When "Got to be real" By Cheryl Lynn sounds more like "best of my love" than Mariah's "Emotions" did. (but, Mariah had more money than cheryl though, and cheryl and the emotions were friends and fellow sistas in the 70's) so, they would never sue their baby girl!... The following year Mariah said OK, I'll use one of your songs for sure this time and make my money back.... So came "Dreamlover" Where mariah used a sample of "Blind Alley". After asking the writer and composer of the song "David Porter" for permission to use the song, "Dreamlover" became one of mariah's biggest and longest running number one hits at that time, While cheryl and the emotions are still broke :o)

Review the Music

The other review sounds really stupid and immature. The song Blind Alley was sampled by Big Daddy Kane on Ain't No Half Steppin' before Mariah Carey did and I'm sure they have received compensation from all of the artists who have sampled them and respected them enough to pay them. As they should. I don't know if they're broke or not and don't care. That's the beside the point.

Blind Alley is an awesome song in keeping with Stax's tradition of producing really good soul music. That's the point of a music review to talk about the music!

A trio of sisters with a strong gospel base, the Emotions (based in Chicago) were one of the leading female R&B acts of the '70s. Lead singer Sheila Hutchinson and her sisters Wanda and Jeanette were only teenagers when they crashed the soul charts in 1969 with the engaging "So I Can Love You," but they sang gospel as children and enjoyed secular fame locally before signing with Memphis-based Volt and working with producers Isaac Hayes and David Porter.
