amazing a cappella

It is next to unbelievable that every sound on this album is made by the human voice. The percussion and bass are done *simultaneously* by Stack, who wears something called a "Thumper" around his neck -- a couple of contact mikes next to his vocal cords that feed into a frequency splitter to lower the bass by an octave, while he does all the drum work with his mouth. The other four members of the group work their magic with amazing harmonies, and the songs are great in themselves, with arrangements that are near perfect. My favorite a cappella album of all time, though this collection shows you why "a cappella" is too limiting a characterization -- Five O'Clock Shadow prefers to be called a vocal band. Listen and see why. And if you ever get a chance to see them perform live in the New England area, don't miss it -- they have so much fun it ought to be illegal.

Terrific group and CD!

I've had this CD since it was released (long before iTunes was around) and I still enjoy listening to these guys! They are a great group with a great sound, slightly different from most a capella groups. I couldn't recommend it more!
