The opening track on this effort from techno diva Mimi is a contrapuntal marvel that pits a droned vocal against a manic jungle orchestra. The rest of the album offers similar treats, leaning more on Mimi's somber imagery. A torch-song cover of Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun" completes the picture.

"Thrilled to Pieces" with Mimi
Her "Fire & Roses" track came pre-installed on my brand new Dell computer back in 2000. (I switched to Apple G5 since then!) I had that song on repeat for a good week! I can think of no one her equal and no one who sings quite like her. If you enjoy artists like Bjork and Emiliana Torrini, you will probably love Mimi. Her voice is beautiful and her arrangements are anything but ordinary!

This is full of haunting, soulful songs delivered by a voice unlike any other. Simply beautiful.
she'll put a spell on you
I LOVED Hugo Largo and when I heard Mimi Goese was releasing a solo album I was overjoyed. Too bad iTunes does not have the e.p. to go along with this album. Her cover of I PUT A SPELL ON YOU is absolutely amazing. BUY THIS!
