Album Review

A charming set of songs with sparse instrumentation and pleading vocals, Some Voices is a lo-fi snack that never stays in the same mode long enough to get boring. The members of Pinback fill the space appropriately, but still manage to never push into the red. A thoroughly enjoyable sample of what this group has to offer.

Some Voices-EP

This band surely understands the concept of NOT overplaying. Never do you hear toes being stepped on, nor do you hear unneccessary sounds that shouldnt be there. The keyboards are cleverly placed, the drums are tight with the bass in a strange and satisfying way....its a wonderful EP. A great buy. (A band that lies in the same category of Tightness is a little band named Of Montreal.) This EP is a good listen, no matter what your emotional state is. Great Lyrics. Great Voice. Great composition. The beginning of "Some Voices" is Epic.

Woah...

Most bands that produce EPs turn out to be nothing special...Some Voices, however, is the epitomy of mini-albums. Some Voices leads off the CD, and before you realize it, ends with June. The perfect outlet for these 4 songs, as they venture out into what Pinback is capable of doing.

love pinback

ok. some voices is awesome. all pinback is. but if you're going to purchase pinback, you should buy songs like fortress, penelope, and loro. all pinback is great, but those three songs are greatER. i promise that if you like chill music that you can relax to, pinback will be a great buy.

In the first few days of 1998, Armistead Burwell Smith IV (of San Diego-based Three Mile Pilot) and Rob Crow (of Thingy and Heavy Vegetable) formed a part-time recording project under the name Pinback. The simple plan grew more involved while Three Mile Pilot...
