Humor Me
Though it may be easy to dismiss Whiteacre and through her EP into the bin with artists like Ingrid Michaelson and Regina Spector, Whiteacre proves to her listeners a mastery that surpasses both and all other female singer-song writers of her generation. So what makes this album a staple in a listener's collection? The fact that the girl is a musical genius, and while you may shrug at the idea of the-next-big-thing, Whiteacre is destined, and she's sticking around too. Above all things worth considering, is her sense of humor, an untamed unruly and beautiful style of lyrical writing that allows Asia to write something uniquely playful and heart warming, simultaneously.
Three Cheers for Asia Whiteacre. Buy it now and listen to it as you're driving through Laurel Canyon. If you don't feel alive, you must be dead.
Great New Artist, Outstanding Album!
You know that swelling of pride and self satisfaction you get from being someone who listened to a musician/band before they hit it big and all your friends started like them? Jump on board now with Asia. I'm telling you. You'll find her songwriting to be brilliant and original. One thing I really like is her songs have a lot of different styles but she excels at them all. Grab this album before your friends do. Be that guy/girl. You know you like it.
A Haunting, catchy collection
Asia Whiteacre delivers. This is a really haunting and catchy group of songs. I really liked all of the songs, but my two favorites are, "Bad For You" and "Tiny Little Pieces". There's a lot to like about this collection. If Kate Bush were just starting out today I bet she'd sound a lot like Asia Whiteacre...especially on the epic "Next To You." Modern pop songwriting well done!
