iTunes Review
Night Ranger fans are likely to be extremely excited about this 2011 release. Guitarist Brad Gillis pulls out all the stops and the songs are as catchy and widescreen as the good ol’ days when “Sister Christian” was making its way up the charts. The immediacy of “Somewhere In California” and “Lay It On Me” make for radio-ready anthems meant for taking the top down on the convertible and letting the summer breeze whip up everyone’s hair. “Bye Bye Baby (Not Tonight)” snarls with a street-tough swagger that has a Bob Seger heartland tug to its glittering arrangement. “Follow Your Heart,” “It’s Not Over” and “Rock ‘N Roll Tonite” pulse with a re-found sense of purpose. “Time of Our Lives” wanders over to the piano for a moment of reflection. “Live For Today” is a spirited power ballad. The bonus track, a cover of the legendary AC/DC song “Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap,” is an essential ending to a furiously charged hard-rock pop album.

(You Can Still) Rock in America!
Yeah, back to 80's sound and not trying to be new school or somthing they're not! I remember my uncle putting on Dawn Patrol on the turntable, cranked up the volume and said, "listen to this!" "Penny" is still one of my favorite songs from NR. I'm glad to see them cranking out some great new music! I didn't realize they had a new album coming out until I saw it in WM. I have to p/u the cd on this one to add to my collection!
Pretty poor effort
I've never written a review before, but since all the other reviews are praising this album endlessly, I thought I'd add my perspective. Now, this isn't an angry rant - I am by all means a "true" fan. I have and enjoy all their albums (with the exception of the one album released without Jack Blades), and I've lost count how many times I've seen them live.
After a week of listening to the album, it is growing on me a little, but overall, the songs are ordinary at best, and a little cringing at worst. The low point to me is the recycling of a line and melody from an earlier song (Don't Start Thinking) into the chorus of a new song (Bye Bye Baby).
Their "post-glory" days albums have not been the strongest, but I think this one is the weakest by far.
It's About Time!
Since NR got back together in '97 this is the best CD they've released! Joel & Eric are great additions to the band. All the songs are catchy & will hold up to multiple playthroughs. It's not Dawn Patrol or Midnight Madness, but in 10 years it'll still hold up very well.
