Kingdom-minded Worship

I’ll admit it up-front: I love the idea of songs being birthed our of the vision of a specific Christian community. There is a power to writing and singing song corporately that grew out of the very same soil that one fellowship and communes with week by week. Those become far more than songs - they are a community’s creed - their very D.N.A. set to music.

I’ll also be honest enough to say that Grace and I share very similar D.N.A., spiritually - in many ways it feels like an Acts 29 Network Church ran headlong into a Vineyard: solid Kingdom theology, and missional to the core. These songs reflect that well.

That’s my way of saying, “I love this c.d!” In fact, my whole family loves this c.d! If I happen to put something else in the player, just for the sake of variety, I’ll find GRACE MIDTOWN’s disc back in next time I get in the vehicle, if for no other reason that our young children sit in the backseat and request the songs continually. It’s one of those.

Stylistically, since the front-men of Unhindered (Ben & Pat), and Aaron Keyes are at the heart of what’s happening at Grace musically, you can hear their influence throughout everything, but with a touch of Desperation Band, Hillsong United, and Jesus Culture thrown in for good measure.

There are so many great songs on this disc that it’s hard to know where to start, but if I had to choose just one, there is no doubt which one it would be: “Jesus Loves Me”. Co-written and performed by Ben Smith of Unhindered, and Aaron Keyes, and originally recorded for the release of Craig Gross’ JESUS LOVES YOU THIS I KNOW, the live version here billows with passion, and literally sent shivers down my spine on the first listen. Other stand-outs include; “Desperate”, “Rain on Me”, & “Breathe”, but honestly, there’s not a stinker in their midst.

It’s not often that I can so wholeheartedly endorse a c.d. as I do this one. Pick one up, or at least download "Jesus Loves Me", and decide for yourself from there.

Our God Deserves the Highest Praise!

The songs on this CD are spirit filled and they are life changing. I go to Grace Midtown and you can feel the presence of God in that place EVERYTIME. The band doesn't even try that hard to make the people get into the music, it's just automatic! All the songs on the CD are amazing, but my favorites are:

1) Lavish Your Love
2) Desperate
3) Breathe
4) Who Is Like the Lord
5) Take This City
