iTunes Review

Capping Wonder’s most artistically productive period, 1976’s Grammy-winning Songs in the Key of Life was a two-LP plus 4-song EP 21-track magnum opus that overflows with shocking, forward-thinking moments of grand musical ambition and great social concern. Wonder’s natural gifts are all on full display. His chilling understatement (“Love’s In Need of Love Today”), his austere orchestration (“Village Ghetto Land”), his knack for the unforgettable hook (his tribute to the recently departed Duke Ellington, “Sir Duke,” his rapturous celebration of his new daughter “Isn’t She Lovely”) and his impeccable instrumental prowess (“Contusion”) are in ample supply. It’s no coincidence that it would take Wonder three years to follow up such an accomplishment. He’s fully invested himself throughout with his personal musical vocabulary becoming part of the larger musical community. In recent years, “Pastime Paradise” was used as the basis for Coolio’s “Gangsta’s Paradise,” while the hit “I Wish” was given new lyrics by Will Smith for the theme to the movie Wild Wild West. Simply one of modern music’s most important and influential statements.

Love and Life

When I first bought this album I wore it out. The command this man has on expressing love and life was unmatched by his piers at the time this record came out. I said to a friend "it's too bad he's blind, he misses so much" she said "honey he doesn't miss a thing" I have found this to be true. Just listen to this record alone!

GREATEST ALBUM EVER!!!!! (coming from a 9 year old)

I love Stevie Wonder. He is blind and can play the piano better than I can and I can see! My favorite songs are Sir Duke, and I Wish. Sir Duke makes you feel good about living. I Wish is a masterpiece of music. I am in love with this album but these are my top 2. STEVIE IS THE GREATEST.

Loved it

His albums have such full and deep sound it's wonderful to know iTunes has honored his rich music by keeping it as original sound as close as possible and even enhancing it. All in all it is one of the greatest of compositions, arrangmant, music, and directing(all by Stevie himself) of all time.

Stevie Wonder is a much-beloved American icon and an indisputable genius not only of R&B but popular music in general. Blind virtually since birth, Wonder's heightened awareness of sound helped him create vibrant, colorful music teeming with life and ambition. Nearly everything he recorded bore the stamp of his sunny, joyous positivity; even when he addressed serious racial, social, and spiritual issues (which he did quite often in his prime), or sang about heartbreak and romantic uncertainty,...
