Death Angel Live=AWESOME!
A great live metal album from one of my all-time favorite metal bands from the Bay Area, my very own stomping grounds. If you are not familiar with Death Angel this is a great introduction to their music, it is a sort of "Greatest Hits Live." On the other hand, I consider every song of theirs a hit. I do wish they had played Veil of Deception, one of my favorite songs of theirs, at least of the acoustic songs. The album is a great mix of songs, both a lot of old and new material. The old material, of which I am glad to hear as a fan of theirs from the very beginning; and their new material which is just as thrashy as the old. I highly recommend this album. The only downside-of which is really nothing-is that I wish it was recorded in their hometown, the Bay Area, San Francisco. Although, I understand the historic moment for them to record at the Rock Hard in Germany. This is definitely one of my favorite live albums.
Keepin' it real
Though the tempo isnt as quick on some songs, such as those from "The Ultra-Violence", Death Angel plays 'em well. They sound great on some of my big faves like "Voracious Souls" and "Seemingly Endless Time". Mark sounds really good here, which is obviously a plus. Sure, the originals are probably better, especially if you have a huge hunger for breakneck speed, like me, but the playing is by no means slow, and the playing is airtight throughout. They sound close to album quality live, and thats the important thing. Get it.
