Album Review
The recordings on Soul Vaccination: Live were made during Tower of Power's 1998 tour. It wasn't a reunion tour, since ToP never really went away, but they nevertheless hauled such staples as "What Is Hip," along with selection from latter-day albums. If Soul Vaccination is to be trusted, it was an enjoyable but not particularly noteworthy jaunt through the states. Nevertheless, ToP's playing was supple and lively enough to make it an enjoyable listen for hardcore fans, even if it's not memorable enough to make its way onto the stereo that often.

This record is freakin' amazing! I have seen TOP live and this record does a great job in capturing the vibe of the band in a live setting. "Diggin' On James Brown" is one of my favorites. Of course there is the classic "You're Still a Young Man" which is awesome. If you are a fan of great horns and an incredibly tight rhythm section than this band is hard to beat. "Soul Vaccination" and "Soul With a Capital 'S'" was tight as ever. By the way, watching DB play the drums live was a life experience. Dude was chomping on gum and sitting in the pocket with incredible accuracy. I love these guys!!! I've turned my 10 year old on to them and he thinks they are the best. I hope they are around for many more years.

Amazing!
I'm usually not a fan of live CDs, but Tower of Power really hit it with this album. My favorites are Diggin' On James Brown, What Is Hip?, and So I Got to Groove. Don't buy just one or two songs, but the whole album, you won't be dissapointed.
