Album Review
Avenged Sevenfold has crafted a tremendous variation of metalcore, inflecting the traditional metal sound with outrageous bursts of hardcore fury and mesmerizing wails more likely found in the European vein of death metal. These elements together create an amazing but lethal crush on the listener, leaving one breathless after such feats. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet is an exceptional album that finds the group perfecting its own distinct style, and although the bandmembers remain fairly unknown on the metal scene, one could only imagine that this will change rather quickly. Frontman M. Shadows is a force to be reckoned with, as his screams are capable of making blood flow from one's ears, while his singing voice has the ability to feel those vicious wounds. Songs such as "Darkness Surrounding" and "We Come Out at Night" are excellent metalcore masterpieces, as the vocal harmonies add to these cuts to evolve the songs into fully atmospheric sonic blasts. As the album unfolds, Shadows' singing voice becomes the more dominant style and that is slightly unfortunate; the melodies are given much more intensity when his voice is used to a lesser extent amidst the grating bellows — yet there is no bad song included on this collection. Musically, the band has seamlessly woven hardcore crunch with heavy metal flair, and never once bogs itself down with too much intricacy. "Streets" may surprise some for its punk feel, yet it all makes sense since it's a cover of the Successful Failure song, proving that Avenged Sevenfold could easily outdo many of the gritty punk groups in existence in the 21st century. Sounding the Seventh Trumpet is a magnificent album that is suitable for any fan of metal music, as Avenged Sevenfold has a firm grasp on all that is extreme. ~ Jason D. Taylor, All Music Guide

The screaming
by DETTIGERSLook the only reason they got big is cuz they stopped the screaming.I thing all of the albums are great but my favorites are the albums they don't scream plus Matt shadows ha to have throat surgury cuz he was screaming and u people out who want him to scream again it could end his career and u don't want that to happen.and about the surgury I read on iTunes if u want to find it it's on a article
A Big Surprise
by DICE4527I was anxiously waiting for a new album from one of my favorite bands to come out, when all of the sudden, I discovered Avenged Sevenfold. Yes, I knew who they were, but I had never heard anything besides Almost Easy, Critical Acclaim, Bat Country, and Beast and the Harlot. I decided to check out their older stuff. I like anything from blink-182 to Bullet for my Valentine, so I'm not picky. I bought Waking the Fallen and was blown away by how great it was! I already knew that I was in for something heavier when I looked at this album just by listening to the 30 second clips. At first, I was skeptical about buying it, but my older brother really wanted it after I introduced him to WtF. I will never regret buying this...
To End the Rapture: Why is this song explicit? I can play the original version on piano. Yep, that's right! The original album had Daemon Ash, not Synister. This version is re-recorded with Syn on guitar. 9/10
Turn the Other Way: Great headbanger! Good song overall. 9/10
Darkness Surrounding: SEVERELY UNDERRATED! One of my favorite tracks. I have no idea why, I just love this song, especially the end! 10/10
The Art of Subconcious Illusion: To get this straight, subconcious illusion is a dream, or in this case, a nightmare. Matt's fiance/wife/I have no idea of her status screams in this song. You will know. Trust me. The intro got me thinking that this would be like Eternal Rest, but it keeps on getting heavier. Good song. 9/10
We Come Out at Night: Another great song. Probably the heaviest on the album. 10/10
Lips of Deceit: Kind of a filler, but a good song overall. 8.5/10
Warmness on the Soul: I cry every time I hear this song (not really). It's just perfect! I was expecting screaming, but none came! (Don't get me wrong, I love screaming!) I'm trying to learn the intro on piano, but it's really hard. 101/10
An Epic of Time Wasted: So much time you've wasted, and you've never thought of buying this! 10/10
Breaking Their Hold: Worst song. I'm sorry, it's just toooooooooooooooooo short. And boring. 5/10
Forgotten Faces: Okay, just kinda sounds like all of the other. 8/10
Thick and Thin: The beginning is singing (shut up about the intro! It's fine!), which is the "thin" part. The "thick" part comes soon, but not too soon. Gets heavier and faster as it goes. Probably one of my favorites. 10/10
Streets: The first all-singing fast song. This song comes from Matt's old band, Successful Failure. Very punk, almost doesn't sound like them. Funky bass riff! 10/10
Shattered by Broken Dreams: Not one of my favorites. A little too long. At one point, it sounds like one of the guitarists is off by half a second. 8/10
Overall, you need to get it. Now.
New Avenged Sevenfold Fan
by MarilynOsbourneSabbathZeppelinI've got to say this is a really good album from one of the best new bands, I don't liaten to a lot of more modern stuff (unless you consider Slayer modern), but this band is probably the best band to hit the music scene since Pantera, I strongly recommend this album and band to anyone.
