GREAT Soundtrack!
I grew up with this soundtrack - it is the only version of South Pacific that makes sense to me - and sounds right. Mary Martin, Enzio Puzo, and the cast make this a classic. The singing is strong, vibrant, and goes straight to your heart. "Some Enchanted Evening" is one of the best love songs of all times! Children's song is the best ever. Highly HIGHLY recommended!!!
One of my favorite soundtracks ever.
I also grew up on this version of South Pacific. My father still plays "Some Enchanted Evening" over and over again to this day. I do believe though that the singer for Rossano Brazzi who played Emile de Becque was Giorgio Tozzi.
South Pacific (original soundtrack)
I totally agree with the previous review except that the male lead in the movie version was Enzio Pinza not Puzo. The new revival cast is excellent, and for those who haven't grown up hearing the original movie soundtrack, I'm sure the Broadway revival soundtrack will create the same loyalty especially if they are lucky enough to see the new Broadway production. It is simply fabulous.
