iTunes Review
As one of mainstream country’s most successful artists, Tim McGraw knows how to communicate his ideas with the perfect balance of country elements and the rock accents that have steadily infiltrated the music. He’s an unashamed sentimentalist, yearning for the moments he can never have back. “If I Died Today” wonders who would turn off his coffee pot among the other loose ends. “Forever Seventeen” struggles with the idea of aging. The piano helps ground the sentimentality and wisdom driving “I Didn’t Know It At the Time.” The opening cut, “Still,” resonates with an uneasy sense that time always has its limits. “Mr. Whoever You Are” uses the ache in McGraw’s voice for a sweet emotive turn. “Good Girls” and its cheating tale sails smoothly with its rock guitars huddling just under the mix that features plenty of modern day adult-contemporary touches. Only during Nickelback’s Chad Kroeger co-written tune, “It’s a Business Doing Pleasure With You,” does an unusually thorny McGraw surface atop the honky-tonk workout. McGraw easily handles it. But it doesn’t sound like the empathetic man we have come to know in song.

Touching, Powerful, Emotional and Fun
Tim McGraw's music has always been unique in the sense that he is an artist who releases songs that are more than just "twangy nonsense". His music has always had a lot of deep and powerful meanings that not many other country artists release. Southern Voice is a brilliant example of that. This 12-track album is an album that will touch hearts, bring about realizations, promote sing alongs, give chills, and bring tears to the eyes of its listeners. Right off the bat, the opener "Still" is a number that shows endurance through it's strong tone and lyric. The tunes "Good Girls," "I didn't Know It At the Time," "If I Died Today," and "You Had to Be There" show that reality does exist, no matter how harsh and unforgiving it can be. Bringing forth a more optimistic light in this album are the first two singles released, and the uplifting "Forever Seventeen." The blue collar ballad "Mr. Whoever You Are" gives the listener a beautiful four minute song that depicts the lives of the overlooked "backroad" citizens. And then, there's the closer, "Love You Goodbye." This track is by far one of McGraw's most emotional works. The story of a life filled with hatred, sadness, anger, love, and forgiveness is exceptionally executed in this tear jerking song. Southern Voice is a certain must by for any McGraw fan, and for any listener who enjoys emotions wonderfully displayed through music.
Well..
This Album is actually one of Tim's best ive heard....
It brings back some of his old taste of music, great songs like Still, If i died today.
I noticed most of the newer songs, not only by Tim, but others, have an upbeat to them, which i guess fits in with today's style,
Would recommend this CD to any country music fan!
What was that?
It's a long, long way from "Everywhere". I used to be a big fan. His crisp and fresh
sound has turned to easy listening
