Blew Me Away (Again)
I've been a fan of Ilan Rubin and his artistic vision which is The New Regime since I was introduced to him as the live drummer for Nine Inch Nails in late 2008. I proceeded to buy his first album "Coup" as it was released around the same time as this announcement and it blew me away because the record had a sound that was unique. The thought that one man could write and perform several instuments with such precision and artistry at his age floored me. So, when this album was announced I had high expectations, but had some doubt that he would be able to make an even better record since I thought "Coup" was so amazing. Well, with "Speak Through the White Noise" he successfully did exactly that. What stands out to me is the way "STTWN" has more diversity in its sound from "coup" while it still remains true to the signature sound of The New Regime. Once again the lyrics and musicianship here are top notch and in my opinion there is not one subpar track on the album. I would highly recommend purchasing "Speak Through the White Noise" and "Coup" to anyone, and if you are still undecided the first four tracks are downloadable for free from The New Regime's website.
