brilliant
"Spring" is the first of, hopefully, many offerings from Larkin Poe, the new band formed by Rebecca and Megan Lovell. Rebecca and Megan are, quite simply, the most exciting pair of songwriters/singers/musicians you are going to find today.
I could go on for days about all the things that make Larkin Poe and "Spring" great, but here's the short version. What most distinguishes Larkin Poe from other bands is this: unbelievable *musical taste*. You'll find it everywhere in "Spring": it's the jaw-droppingly beautiful note Rebecca sings to punctuate a phrase, it's the sinuous perfection of Megan's lapsteel work, it's the flatout genius of songwriting and arrangement you find in "The Principle Of Silver Lining."
Rebecca and Megan Lovell are sort of a well-kept secret, known mostly to folks who are plugged in to the bluegrass/roots/Americana festival circuit. They're clearly more interested in following their muses than in any instantaneous, superficial success. This makes their music hard to label, unless you resort to labels like "gorgeous," "elegant," "powerful," or "stupendous." It's glorious stuff. Buy it. It's a steal at any price.
All I can say is...WOW
Tight vocals,smart lyrics and a unique sound seperate the have been's from the will be's and this cd "will be" one of my all time favorites. I have not stopped listening to this CD since I borrowed from a friend of mine. Larkin Poe does not disapoint.
Great Album....
Awesome album! Love the songs and lyrics everytime I listen to them. The stories are great, easy to relate to, and I find myself wanting to hear more.
