Endearing, catchy and witty
Another pop gem out of Athens! Don't be thrown off by the singer's accent though - he is in fact from the UK originally. I hear a bit of Blur on some of the tracks and XTC, but there are definitely American influences, too: Guided By Voices (the band's namesake?), Weezer...The lyrics are sharp and entertaining, especially the suburban critique "Stripmalls In the Sun," and there is plenty to get you dancing as well. Having seen the band live, it sounds like their newer material--written after this EP was complete--is even better which is exciting! This record is a great intro to a band that is on its way up.
