I had the good fortune to attend a concert by Heather & Benjy Wertheimer (Shantala) a few months ago, and it was a blissful and truly inspiring experience. For me, this album provides a delightful reminder of that memorable evening. But I think anyone who I appreciates chanting, kirtan, or devotional music would enjoy this on its own. I've gifted several copies to friends around the US and in Europe, and they all love it, too. I highly recommend this album. What I especially like about Shantala is how their spiritual depth and purity of intention are coupled with a high level of musicianship. Heather's angelic soprano and folky guitar merges seamlessly with Benjy's earthy vocals and expert handling of traditional Indian instruments. As a result, you really get the feeling that this pair are reaching out to you in order to share their love and devotion. In that, they succeed mightily.

If you are a yogi, or teach yoga play Babu Hanuman for sivasana...I have NEVER played this during practice without a student asking me "What were you playing?" It is hard to invite them back from relaxation because they are so blissed on this song.
