iTunes Review

After the blues influence of their first album, Jethro Tull retooled with guitarist Martin Barre and began their trek into English folk music and the signature Tull sound. “A New Day Yesterday” still holds to the smoky blues line, but “Jeffrey Goes to Leicester Square” is exactly the mix of flute, organ and electric guitar that fans have come to expect. The instrumental, “Bouree” is a virtuoso piece that exemplifies the best in progressive rock: technical but with great heart and a sense of history. The mystical push of “Back to the Family” with Ian Anderson’s distinctive vocals represent the band’s sense of drama that would hold through classics such as Aqualung and Thick As A Brick. “Look Into the Sun” is a great acoustic British folk-like tune where Anderson sings with an extra “shake” in his voice. “Nothing Is Easy” spotlights the band’s instrumental prowess with unexpected breaks and tempo and texture changes. “Fat Man” aims for a rumble through the jungle with its hyper-extended percussion. “Reasons for Waiting” includes gloomy organ and a beautiful string arrangement. The “Remastered Version” includes five bonus cuts, including the stereo and mono single mix of “Living In the Past.”

Stand up

This one introduced me to the group. There really isn't a bad moment on it and this I tunes version sounds great with some cool bonus tracks. Imangine a group with no filler for their album.

download" reason for waiting", "nothing is easy", "a new day yesterday". Then you will be ready for the whole thing.

The orginal album had the band pop up when opening.

This is very best of!!

This álbum is the very best of jethro tull...I love the song "bouree"...is perfect..

One of their best.

While Aqualung is arguably Jethro Tull's best record, I would rank this as their second best.
This is earlier material that shows more raw energy in the musicians in my opinion.
I remember the LP having the band pop up out of the page and "Stand Up" when the original album cover halves were opened.
The live songs on this remastered disk are a plus.

Jethro Tull was a unique phenomenon in popular music history. Their mix of hard rock; folk melodies; blues licks; surreal, impossibly dense lyrics; and overall profundity defied easy analysis, but that didn't dissuade fans from giving them 11 gold and five platinum albums. At the same time, critics rarely took them seriously, and they were off the cutting edge of popular music since the end of the 1970s. But no record store in the country would want to be without multiple copies of each of their...
