Not up to par

Although he has contributed an entire musical language to Star Trek, Jerry Goldsmith falls short with this effort. Perhaps due to his failing health, this entry into the series lacks the grandre of his previous Trek scores. Strong action sequences and one new theme are all that carry this final entry.

One of Goldsmith's great final scores

This is one of Jerry Goldsmith's final scores and very solid at that. I don't like it maybe quite as much as First Contact, but it is very comparable and I think just as good as Insurrection. This score is definitely worth the purchase. I just don't think you can go wrong with Mr. Goldsmith. It's a real loss to world of film music that he is not longer with us but his legacy will live on through wonderful pieces such as Nemesis.

Much better.

I know I griped about Insurrection for 2 hours straight, it's actually grown on me. But THIS-! Oh my God, so much better. Remus, My Right Arm, Repairs, Ideals, Lateral Run, Engage, Final Flight, A New Friend, And, A New Beginning just kick @ss! That's already most of the album. I listen to this, The Motion Picture, Final Frontier, First Contact and, yes, even Insurrection at work every day. Buy this. If you love Star Trek, get it. It's the final Next Generation film and the score is just littered with these poignant little moments that remind you of that. This movie was my favorite, they finally found a director and writer for the next gen movies that was on par with Nick Meyer from the original series movies... And what does Paramount do? Cancel any more next gen movies.... Idiots. Hopefully the relaunch movie is decent...
