no phoney, an incredible singer/songwriter
Marie's version of Umbrella might not be for everyone. That's fine. However, if you happened to watch her live and listen to her original songs, you'll be hooked! It's not just the voice, but the songwriting. Have you read the lyrics to Unfold? As for the Wall Street Journal Article, it's sad to see there are so many narrow-minded people out there. Someone's always out there to hate. The accusations are all false. Everyone knew she was signed and i simply don't believe that her label tried to put some internet marketing campaign for her on youtube. She did it all on her own, and it's paying off. Marie' should be based on her music, not because of an article you read and know nothing about her.
A Welcome Surprise, Love it!!!
Not usually my kind of music (mostly into heavier stuff) , but a good friend of mine took me to one of her LA hotel cafe gigs a while back when I was visiting and I was pleasantly surprised. I guess something stuck with me, cause since then I've been finding myself going to her myspace to hear her posted tunes and now... well, I'm kinda hooked! I think the standout tracks are "Unfold" (lyrics and voice at the end gave me shivers) and "Stupid for you" (fun, and kinda beatles-ish) , but you really can't go wrong with any of it. All 4 songs are beautifully sung and performed and I find the minimal production very refreshing since it never gets in the way of the vocals and actually supports the songs. Definitely worth downloading in my opinion, hope she records more tunes soon!

i love all four songs. i don't even like the original Rihanna song but i adore Marie's version. also, Stupid for You has been on repeat for nearly 12 hours. definitely recommend. great job!!
