Jana's vocal performance is second to none. This is the new definitive version of this song. Bravo.
Stay With Me Baby - The Single
Man oh man oh man, where do I start? From the first note this song had me hooked! Ms. Mashonee's vocal range is extraordinary. I don't know soprano from basso-profundo, but I do know her voice crosses a lot of boundaries in this song. Her phrasing is pitch-perfect and from the heart.
Let's talk about the arrangement for a minute. Lush 'orchestration' if you will, without being over-bearing; with a guitar line running thru it every bit as emotive and evocative as Jana's voice. I'm not the most imaginative guy in the world, but I could see the music video in my mind's eye.
After hearing this, I've gotta check out Jana's earlier CD's. And I apologize for being chauvanistic in the way I say it, but this girl can wail!
If you like old-school R&B, brought into the 21st century, you cannot go wrong with this single. Best .99 cents I've spent in a LOOOONG time, and I'm tellin' it.
