Album Review

Singer/songwriter Jonatha Brooke's fourth album since leaving the group the Story, Steady Pull, is featured on this special DVD release. One side features DVD videos of several songs from the album, as well as photos, lyrics, and a documentary that follows Brooke and producer Bob Clearmountain through the recording of the album. The flip side is a special DVD audio version of Steady Pull that utilizes the increased resolution of the DVD format to capture the full power of these recordings, with the audio mixed for both conventional stereo and 5.1 surround sound.

greatness, once again, in the shadows

I have been listening to Jonatha Brooke since she was with "The Story" -like 20 years ago!! She is a true talent and it is sad that such a fine and creative artist is not more in the forefront of American music. I am happy to say that I am not one of the masses that only listens to what the radio tells me to listen to. She is simply, a gem! (although I believe her finest work was with "The Story"- that stuff molded me)

Jonatha Brooke - Steady Pull

Not enough GOOD can be said about the hardest working girl in this genre of music. Sure she rocks, but her talents as a singer/songwriter soar above the rhythm and sway of her music. I was thrilled to find her in the iTunes Store finally.

Best of Jonatha's albums

Well I admit, I love ALL of Jonatha's albums, but if you are Jonatha-naive, this is the BEST place to start. Deep lyrics, gorgeous melodies, driving beats, just incredible music, great power and passion. Jonatha is not recognized nearly enough for her major talents and contributions to music (not just this genre, but all genres). Her music is inspirational and moving. Start here but get them all - there are a few covers on her other CDs but all of her original music will change your life.

Singer/songwriter/guitarist Jonatha Brooke began issuing albums that merged folk and pop during the early 1990s, first as a member of a female duo named the Story and later as a solo artist. Brooke formed the Story (originally called "Jonatha & Jennifer" during the duo's early years) along with another vocalist, Jennifer Kimball, who attended Massachusetts' Amherst College with Brooke in the early '80s.
