The Strength of the South

Lynyrd Skynyrd. Are there words to describe such a powerful and influential force of music? They have inspired and influenced not only Southern Rock but the entire genre; whether it be Kid Rock's "All Summer Long", 3 Doors Down, Shinedown, or others, their music has fueled Rock Music. Whether it's a ringtone, movie, or car stereo, Lynyrd Skynyrd can be heard anywhere in the world, and now the release of a new song after so many years leaves us questioning: "Is this for real? Is this the same Skynyrd that we grew up on, heard at footballs games, danced and kissed to?" Immediately, I purchased this song and listened to it again, and again, and again. Not because I was debating if I liked this or not, but because I can't stop plistening to it. I listen to a lot of Southern Rock because I feel like it is the last bit of music in this world that involves hard working musicians giving it their all and playing their hearts and souls through an instrument, and it all comes back to Skynyrd. This is the same Skynyrd that played "Sweet Home Alabama", but they have a newer sound, but still with that hard, Southern edge and incredible lyrics. If you're looking for classic Skynyrd tunes, this is not for you, but you can't deny them the fact that this is an incredible song written by incredible musicians. This is Lynyrd Skynyrd ladies and gentlement, and they're back to rock. (Oh and this IS the real Lynyrd Skynyrd from back in the day minus a few musicians that died...check the website if you doubt me)

It's pretty good!

I don't get why you guys keep complaining that it doesn't sound the same as the old LS. Look, it never will, the original singer is dead. So get over it

I was prepaired to be dissapointed...

I am a bit of a Skynyrd snob and have had problems with so many of the original members not in the band anymore due to deaths and members leaving, but this song is a terrific effort and I reallly like the sound! I would recomend this song to any Skynyrd fan, fan of Southern Rock or any plain old Rock fan. This is a great song and it deffinately maintains the tradion of Skynyrd while forging a new path toward the future.

Lynyrd Skynyrd was the definitive Southern rock band, fusing the overdriven power of blues-rock with a rebellious Southern image and a hard rock swagger. Skynyrd never relied on the jazzy improvisations of the Allman Brothers. Instead, they were a hard-living, hard-driving rock & roll band — they may have jammed endlessly on-stage, but their music remained firmly entrenched in blues, rock, and country. For many, Lynyrd Skynyrd's redneck image tended to obscure the songwriting skills of...
