iTunes Review
Gary Rossington may be the only original member left — most of the band has met with tragedy — and singer Johnny Van Zant may never equal his older brother Ronnie’s empathetic Southern drawl, but with ex-Blackfoot guitarist Rickey Medlocke aboard, there are still plenty of chances to build on the legacy. A few tunes here strike a definite nerve. “Southern Ways” chimes with a lick reminiscent of “Sweet Home Alabama” but slowed by age. “Unwrite That Song” beats with a country song’s heart. “Floyd” rattles with a nasty hook and guest vocals from Rob Zombie. The title track uses a subtler acoustic touch. “Skynyrd Nation” huffs and puffs with the bravado one might expect from an intended anthem (Van Zant even calls for everyone to “put your hands in the air” with a sly, demented laugh). The production, however, obscures some of the better moments. “Still Unbroken” and “Simple Life” are solid tunes that use a hard- rock band’s attack and a wall of sound where you need to listen closer to hear the intricacies that have always made Lynyrd Skynyrd one of the greats.

To topper 1958
by ChazleodragonYour an idiot And your distorted point of view thankfully is not the majority I'm a center right independent which you might not understand Don't you realize that this Pres. Was handed a country ruined by deregulation outsourcing and crony laden administration that catered to corporate interest for 8 years This new Pres. actually accomplished more in 11 months than Bozo did in the last 4yrs all you rightwing nuts need to STFU lick your wounds and maybe come up with an idea to help get us back on track instead of whining like children who were grounded for breaking a country to it's core and then pointing the finger at someone other than yourselves Grow a set and maybe help put the fire out instead of fanning the flames and stop watching the distorted Ruppert Murdoch cable channel and watch and listen to more PBS brodcasts who in my opinion report news factually with no politcal agenda or spin and as far as New Lynyrd Skynyrd goes it is what it is not bad but not good it's like a decent attempt to continue selling out 4000 seat venues so they have something to do instead of watching NASCAR and getting drunk on moonshine and reminiscing about what it used to be!!!
finally new good southern rock.

Not the original, but still good
by USNavyFlyerWho cares what the name is, they are still a good band and still have elements of the original. And it cracks me up reading the complaints about the politics of the album. Every rock band out there is liberal, but I still listen to them for the music, and I am a hatemongering conservative veteran. Or as the homeland security folks say, a possible terrorist. Listen to it for the music and stop whining about something the other side deals with everyday.
