Album Review
As if they finally realized that they couldn't quite compete with contemporary musical fashions any more, the Bee Gees moved firmly into "mature" territory with Still Waters. However, they are canny enough to realize that they shouldn't abandon the frothy disco that made them superstars in the late '70s — they should merely temper it with measured rhythms and tasteful melodies. Consequently, nothing on Still Waters is infectious, but it is pleasant, and while only a handful of singles stand out — "I Could Not Love You More" is a sweet ballad — it is still a fine, professional effort from these consummate professionals.

Still Waters
This album is fantastic and it is one of my favorites, if not my favorite,of the Bee Gee albums. It has everything I love about the Bee Gees....great harmony, that special Bee Gee touch, and wonderful instrumentation. Every song has something special.. The love ballads are among my favorites- "I Could Not Love You More", "My Lover's Prayer", "I Will"and "Closer Than Close". "Alone", and "Still Waters Run Deep" are songs that showcase the Bee Gee's talent for lyrics and harmony. This album is a timeless treasure.
A Beautiful Sound...
Most have probably forgotten that the Bee Gees have been around for four Decades. This Album was a reminder to all that the Brothers Gibb could still write and sing Beautiful Songs. The first Single "Alone" is a classic Bee Gees song. The melody is true and obivious. The stand outs are "I Could Not Love You More" , "My Lovers Prayer" , "I Will" and "I Surrender". The Track "Miracles Happen" was originally written for the Movie "Miricles on 31st Street". Its a shame that the Producers declined the opportunity to use it. All in all this Album is with out a doubt a real gem.
A Perfect Pop Album
After years of having the song "Alone" playing in my head, ( I first heard it on the radio years ago) and never wanting buy the whole album, I am delighted to have just bought the song here. I listen to anything that is well-written. Coldplay, Bjork, Shania Twain. Pat Metheny, Metallica, Santana, Chopin. Greig, Alison Krauss, Duncan Sheik, Chris Cornell, Linkin Park, Stevie Wonder, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, LTJ Bukem, Niyaz. I believe in always keeping your ears and mind open. And I love a good pop song. This is about as finely crafted a pop song as I have ever heard. My sister liked the Bee Gees back in high school. Back then as a guitar-playing rocker, I would never admit to her, what I can admit now. The Bee Gees are among the best pop songwriters on the planet, regardless any personal preference.
