Remarkable
Hillier’s new recording is remarkable. The polished sound developed in performing Pärt and Perotin is brilliantly applied to one of Stockhausen’s most evocative and meditative scores. Works of the Darmstadt Avant-garde are rarely treated to such brilliant realizations. Those familiar with Hillier’s high standards and adventurous programming will not be disappointed. This disc is not only for Avant-gardistas but is also an excellent introduction to Stockhausen.
