Album Review

His first and best album features astonishing Lefty Frizzell-style pipes, excellent material, and sympathetic production. Easily the most impressive country debut of the '80s, it includes "1982," "On the Other Hand," "Diggin' Up Bones," and "No Place Like Home." ~ Mark A. Humphrey, Rovi

Simply a classic....

This is one of the fifty best country records ever recorded. You can't begrudge some of the new folks their fame, but when it comes to the real deal, Randy Travis stands alongside greats like Hank Williams and George Jones as one of the finest voices and stylizers to ever put their talent down in recorded vinyl. Classic Randy Travis

I remeber listening to this album when it came out and I love it just as much now as I did then. These works are an excelent example of what Country Music is supposed to sound like with the hallmark "twang" of a steel guitar. Randy's vocals are clear and soulful which helps to set the tone of each song. If you are a Randy Travis fan and have never listened to this album or if you are just a fan of tride and true Country Music this is the perfect addition to your music library.

The Way Country Should Be...

I wasnt even born yet when this album came out but i remember when i was little that my daddy would always play it and everyone would ask me who was singing and i would say "Daddy." but now that i am 20 years old i still remember every song in order that it was on the caset. I have been in love with Randy Travis' voice since i was a little girl one voice i will never forget.

Like the Beatles in rock, Randy Travis marks a generational shift in country music. When his Storms of Life came out in 1986, country music was still wallowing in the post-urban cowboy recession, chasing elusive crossover dreams. Travis brought the music back to its basics, sounding like nothing so much as a perfect blend of George Jones and Merle Haggard. He became the dominant male voice in country until the rise of "hat acts" like Garth Brooks and Clint Black, releasing seven...
