Customer Reviews
One of Rob Mullins' Most Important Works
This is an artist on the RISE not just commercially but artistically. I've been listening to him for years now; on the radio, at workshops, when he concertizes, etc. Lately I notice a LOT of new buzz on him as he takes more leadership in his genre. STORYTELLER affirms why his growing fame is so well-deserved. Its a very intimate and evocative album where Mullins defines and elevates his distinctive sound more clearly than I've ever heard him do before. The music is amazingly full of expression and sonic texture from all around the world. As a concept album (every track tells a story), I found it best enjoyed if you play it all the way through from first track to last. There is a definite journey happening there. That said, I highly recommend PRIME TIME, BACK IN THE DAY, and STORYTELLER as "must haves" if you're not buying the whole album. If you are a long time fan like me, you'll love the direction he takes in this landmark work. If Mullins is new to you, consider THIS your introduction.
Enlightened!
I really like the song "In The Sun" from this album. It reminds me of a tropical island and someone having an adventure. Highly recommended for anyone who likes jazz piano that is better than most.
Storyteller
Great jazz blend with a new age twist. Every composition makes you search for the deeper meaning behind each song and leaves you wanting more. Every track is fascinating-specifically “Tears for America” & “The Smile”. Both are filled with so much emotion. Wonderful listening choice.
