Its a journey
It's late at night and i'm driving home and Zarni's enchanting voice whispers to me, conjuring up ghosts of past love affairs. Her poetry floats around me like lost little angels, quiet and sad now and in the next moment, playful and mischievous. Driving deep into the night i'm finding so many questions, "One" "Peaceful Heart" "Evaporated" but also so many answers, "Is This Your Idea" "Tangled" "This Is How You Lose Yourself..."Familie." Past darkened homes, Past sleeping family and friends, i'm wrapped in Zarni's warm musical embrace. i'm alone with my thoughts and Zarni's sweet, tough, gentle, sensual, soaring voice and seriously melodic and soulful music. She's inspiring me, shaking me awake and putting me on notice that: "Life is Good" "Life is Now" "Life is Straight Forward." Take a musical trip with Zarni. She's an excellent travel companion---day or night. her wondrous voice and dynamic playing shows you that it's the journey that's important...and "Straight Forward" will take you on quite a journey.
More Than That
The best way to describe Zarni’s music is “more than that.” It’s jazzy – but more than that. It’s pop - but more than that. As a singer/songwriter she writes wonderfully rich lyrics of the moods, the moments and the stories that make us human. But more than that she sets those lyrics to music that both fascinates and captivates. Zarni makes music but she does more than that. She makes music fun to listen to.
Absolutely phenomenal.
Zarni is a very unique artist to me. Unlike many other artists of our day, she doesn't overload us with sound to mask the fact that true music is not made. You've definitely got your upbeat pop songs (that will surely be stuck in your head for a while) but each song on this record has such substance that she is immediately set apart from the people who try to be artists. Zarni is a songwriter's songwriter; her lyrics hit me just where I feel it most. I find that each verse takes me on a journey within myself until I realize she is speaking not on my experiences but hers. It's truly a gift to find an artist who makes you feel normal; like maybe you aren't insane for feeling the way you do. Zarni is not afraid to get personal with listeners and be honest. There sis something for everyone on this record, and I am truly looking forward to hearing more from her. An instant classic.
