GROW UP! SILVERCHAIR DID
I laugh heartily at the simpletons nashing their teeth for "Frogstomp." If you want cookie-cutter meat head grunge, I think Nickelback has made the same album for 4 records straight, might wanna check there. If not them, there are plenty of like-minded clones hanging around the airwaves. But, if you want smart, innovative and artistic music, there isn't much better than the CHAIR right now. Keep in mind, people, they were 14 YEARS OLD when they made Frogstomp! As good as those early albums are (better than any Nickelback clone), they don't hold a candle to the maturity and uncanny progession this band has seen in the last 10 years. Get a clue and grow up, because SILVERCHAIR has. Straight Lines gets 5 STARS...and it's nowhere near the best song on Young Modern. Get ready folks.
Brilliant Stuff
Certainly not for everyone, especially Frogstomp purists, but the growth and range of the band is amazing. Wickedly fun.
Not All Change is Bad
Alright, I think a lot of you guys aren't giving Silverchair enough credit. They started off when they were 15, at which point no one is sure of what they're going to be or like. So as they got older and matured, they changed, and their music changed. Their music now is DIFFERENT not BAD. When I first heard these guys, it was Frogstomp that caught my attention, Israel's Son more specifically, and when I first heard their newer stuff I thought what many of you are thinking, "oh they sold out, Daniel sings like a fruit, etc." But now that I've given their new music a chance I see that it's brilliant. Ana's Song and Straight Lines are two amazing songs that Daniel composed in his "more recent" phase. So all you people trash talking this single, if they've changed and you don't like it, giving them bad ratings on itunes won't change that. Sorry, but they aren't going back to being 15 any time soon. Compare you rating this poorly to a fan of classical music giving poor ratings to a death metal album. You have a different interest, that doesn't make this music bad.
