I've always been appalled by the way ‘time’ obliterates so many of my everyday moments.  So over the course of a year, I decided to rescue them, place them carefully in my notebooks, and to try to better understand the glue that holds my life together.

I wrote down the conversations I had with my uniquely crazed but brilliant mother, and my loving but major-slob-of-a-husband.  I wrote down the things that happened on errands, on the street, at work, and while driving.  I wrote about all the irritating, ridiculous dramas that came and went.  Sometimes I wrote about my past or I wrote about the voices I heard in my head, or the neurotic thoughts that kept me up at night. 

And after collecting tons and tons of these moments, I discovered two main things:  that I like trying to run away from my moments, because I think the next one will make me happier than the one I’m in, and:  that if I stay in the moment I’m in, no matter how inconsequential it may seem, there always exists a little gem waiting to get noticed, that does make me happy, at least for a minute.
