The True Colors of Igor Stravinsky!

A very large applaude for this volume by Sir Colin Davis. The colaboration of the London and Royal Concertgebouew Symphony Orchestras have made one of the best interpretations of Stravinsky's Petrouchka, Firebird Suite, Orphesus, and Le Sacre du Printemps yet! I enjoyed every piece for its clarity and purity... This is a volume that every classical music collector should have, and is worth the price! After hearing this album, it will set a precedent in your mind on how Stravinsky should sound. It have terrific sound, and a great punch at the end. The Firebird Suite is extremely well done, and is probably my favorite suite after hearing it. The piece sent chill bumps through me when the suite ended in the grand finale. Hopefully it will to you too. I highly recommend it. Delightful to the ears and soul...

The Sacrificial Dance

This album is good all-around (though the Firebird is not fantatsic, though still good). However, the best part of this album is the the final track of The Rite of Spring. I have three different recordings of The Sacrificial Dance, but this one is by far the best. It truly conveys a sense of overwhelming terror. Stravinsky wrote some of the most truly ferocious music ever written in this piece, and this version of the Sacrificial Dance totally captures the ferocity that is meant to be. The performance is fanatstic. Gripping. Gut-wrenching. You clearly see the pagan ritual taking place, and truly understand with this recording the organic horror that is meant to come across. The recording of Petrouchka is exceptional. Another good recording is Leonard Bernstein in the Great Performances label, but this recording of Petrouchka is fabulous. Definitely download this album. Very clear, good interpretation. I keep coming back to this album time and time again. If you download the whole album, it's cheaper than buying individual pieces.
