Album Review
The String Quartet Tribute to Van Morrison is easy listening for intellectuals. Like Morrison's own lighthearted blues, these chamber arrangements are soulful, relaxing, sunny, and often contemplative. Focusing on Morrison's best-known material, the tribute includes "And It Stoned Me," "Brown Eyed Girl," "Tupelo Honey," and "Crazy Love." While each of these offers its own melodic charms, it might be "Caravan" (the centerpiece to 1970's Moondance) that is best-suited to the chamber format. As a cello traces its jaunty rhythm, violins and viola trill and sway, giving the version a pastoral quality that's as warm as the summer sun.
Customer Reviews
Wow! How great!
You simply cannot go wrong with this! BR and VSQ together = brilliance!
more please!
The irony of this album is that it's true punk rock. To know it's wrong and to be told "don't", and still spit in the face of labels and do what you want. If you like this album, check out The Crimson Ghosts "Some Kinda Hits". It's The Misfits redone in instrumental surf guitar. It's punk rock for your parents, and I'm not kidding, I played this stuff at my wedding with great reviews. Nobody had a clue!
Something you cannot go without...
Ever since a very young age have I been listening to Bad Religion's spectacular music and VSQ just made it that much better
