Student of the Game

Student of the Game

Repping for Lefrak, Queens, N.O.R.E. (a.k.a. Noreaga) has had a long and storied career. From his early days alongside Capone in CNN to his smash solo singles "Superthug" and "Nothin'" to his brief reign as the king of reggaeton, he's always gone his own way. While some emcees have challenged his occasionally nonsensical lyricism, he maintains a truly original goofy-thug persona that's endeared him to countless heads around the world. Like most of his albums, Student of the Game is wildly uneven, a mix of tracks that are either extraordinarily dope ("Camouflage Unicorns" with Tragedy and Havoc) or head-shakingly corny ("She Tried" featuring Lil Wayne). Interspersed with skits from Victor Cruz, Kevin Hart, and Scott Disick, highlights include "What I Had to Do" with Scarface, the title track, and "Built Pyramids" with Large Professor. It's not The War Report, but there are still some serious bangers here. If you're down with the N.O., this is definitely worth a listen.
