Everybody involved in putting this CD out, from the musicians to the production folks must’ve had an amazingly positive vibe goin’ on, because jazz trombonist Steve Baxter’s SUGAR ON THE BONE is an outrageously awesome collection of music! Steve’s roster of players is a Who’s Who of contemporary jazz, including names like Randy Crawford, Wilton Felder, Michael Lington, and Everette Harp… and that’s just scratching the surface. I was trying to pick favorites off this album, and basically I love everything on it. There’s just not a track here that wouldn’t enhance a Smooth Jazz station’s playlist or get a positive reaction from listeners. Everyone who considers him/herself to be a discerning jazz aficionado will enjoy having this one in their library, with its tasty variety of textures and rhythms. Steve Baxter’s SUGAR ON THE BONE is sweet, sweet music to my ears. It will be to yours, too! ~Scott O'Brien
